Reality Bites
Patients believe their lives are on TV: MDs
Ok nice headline right? More interesting article. Apparently, these two doctors have discovered a new mental illness where people believe their lives are actually something akin to Reality TV shows. Of course, the doctors had a very original name for the illness; the "Truman Show Delusion." Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of good mental health and also believe that the government has done a horrible job of providing quality mental health care (although with any other type) for people. However, I'm not sure that this illness is anything new. It seems like its just a type of paranoia. Of course, I'm not doctor so who am I to judge (and too bad I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night or I'd be golden).

Sometimes I just feel old
The 80's radio station that played songs you first heard at a Junior High dance is now the "oldies station"
your weekends consist of endless birthday parties for other people's children
your kids ask you who the man with the hair is in your wedding picture with mommy (this one was a bad one for me)
you remember when the Atari 2600 was cutting edge, or how about the computers with no memory, just tapes you had to shove in
you remember when no one thought a computer could go faster than an IBM 286
The movie Hackers had really cool technology and graphics
you'd rather watch CNN than Cartoon Network
Naps are exciting
You remember when you could ride a bicycle without a helmet
You remember when VCRs loaded from the top and had wired remotes
You had to actually get up and turn the TV channel, of course you only had 4 or so channels so it didn't take long
You remember what you were doing in the year that some kid who is just old enough to drink was born in
you think of some 21 year old as a "kid"
You now get annoyed and think of calling the cops on college kids doing the same stuff you did when you were in college
Pizza is no longer a staple of your diet
